what is known and unknown? if you check the old treks alerts on mumbaihikers you will see the accidents happned due to NO GUIDE AND NO TREK GROUP. so the person who wrote the post is also unknown .IT IS ABOUT SAFETY OF ALL . EVEN THE POOR STUDENTS.organiser were also students at one time. The mountain treats all trekkers equally
Experience helps. but at devkund in monsoon no trek group is spared by the flood and water .
All trekkers are amateur people... no one is "professional"
This is the reason why all rescue contact and all guide numbers should be OPEN SOURCE. The question gives the answer. Not all trek group carry safety gear /ropes(they should !)
This issues can only be handled by the govt as it needs a lot of money and resources and premissions to stop over crowding
*P. S.* No one is against solo treks.. Or solo group treks.. with atleast 70% known/exp people
_Problem occurs when the percent is opposite.. & there is no management responsibility._
Organizers do not take responsibility of your life. But they are held responsible if safety gears are not provided. If safety plans are not set up. If rescue strategies are not set up. If other arrangements are not made properly/timely. If prior permissions are not taken. If historical monuments are distorted. If environment around treks, trails, destinations become dirty/unhealthy.
Please see there is a difference between Trekking and Travelling. Comparatively trekkers have a lot of responsibilities to be taken, which amateurs are not even aware of.

"No assumptions on maturity to be made in random / unknown groups. There is a reason why people (organizers) are against. Its not about profits or business loss."

organisers have contact in villages who are local guides (which are also listed here) . how did organisers get it . by going to the village (anyone can do this right?). rescue team is not at the village or with the organisers . you have to call them . the routes are known by the local guide. so if everyone had access to the local guide contact then there would be LESS accidents. students are the most vulnerable as they cannot afford organiser but can afford local guides .
There are many who would prefer to just do the trek without taking much efforts.
Look at the other side of the coin :
1. Organizers have contacts of villagers around. The rescue team can be called at any emergency. The routes are known.. Chances of getting lost is very low..
2. Being experienced organizers are aware about the possible consequences which may need to be faced. Especially in treks like Devkund.
Experience helps. but at devkund in monsoon no trek group is spared by the flood and water .
3. Do you think that these exp. Ppl must have never thought of taking people on low cost? They have obviously given it a thought. What made them give up on the idea? *The risk involved*not sure what the point it ? taking low cost is risk?
The local guide and other student will help him. In a organised group with 20 trekker can the trek leader help all at all spots?
4. What if someone stops inbetween the route and couldn't trek anymore? Who will help him? Who will stop for him.. And be with him till the end..?
This is the reason why all rescue contact and all guide numbers should be OPEN SOURCE. The question gives the answer. Not all trek group carry safety gear /ropes(they should !)
5. What if somebody gets injured or slips off? Who will make an instant move to rescue the person? Whom to contact? Safety gears? Ropes?
Rescue Organisations Nisargamitra Panvel Shivdurg mitra lonavala
6. Keep yourself in place of rescue team. How many times would you want to go on a mission? The reason.. Amateur People..
All trekkers are amateur people... no one is "professional"
7. Will you just leave these amateurs on their own will.. And don't care even if they lose lives? What about the after effects?
This is the reason why all rescue contact and all guide numbers should be OPEN SOURCE. The question gives the answer. Not all trek group carry safety gear /ropes(they should !)
No one can stop anyone that is the reason for all the accident. BUT if 100% of information was available to all at all forts then ...the selfie guy would be more cautious
8. Who will stop a guy from taking selfie at the risky places..? Why will he listen to you?
9. Amateurs join where there is low cost.. They do not value the efforts made to organize the treks.. They take it too casually..all treks even organised treks are amateurs or are they professional?
10. Because of such amateurs the thrill of the trek is lost.. Many treks were closed during Monsoons.. At many thrilling treks.. Railings have been set up.. Which decreases the level of difficulty.. More no. of people start crowding at that place.. The true meaning of trekking is lost..
This issues can only be handled by the govt as it needs a lot of money and resources and premissions to stop over crowding

11. Lastly, the environment.. Who will keep a watch that there is no littering or wastes thrown around..? Who will take action if a historical monument is being played with..?
12. In abnormal/worst conditions.. What if there are two decisions/directions/diversions..? If No leader.. Whom to follow? Whom will the first timers follow..?
